The Chairman

Mr Bob Lube

His thoughts...

I moved to Llangollen with my family from Liverpool in 1967, to work as a Printer in the local Printing Company Dobson and Crowther.

During 1976, I was invited by the Committee of the Town Band; to be their Chairman, I accepted, and have held that position ever since. Shortly after becoming Chairman I was asked to help out on Practice nights and beat the Bass drum, one thing led to another and eventually I became the Bands Drummer. Over the last thirty years I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Band.

During those Years the Band has seen good times, and some not so good times, but fortunately unlike a lot of local Bands who have folded, we have grown in strength. This is in no small part due to the enthusiasm and dedication of members of the Band, Players and non players alike.

I would like to say “very well done to all the members for keeping the Band going”. The people of Llangollen are very proud of their Band, and they do see us as ‘their Band’, we are there for all the Town events; large and small, and are very much a part of the culture of Llangollen Town.

With the support we have from people of the Dee Valley and surrounding areas we hope to build on our strengths to ensure a positive future for the Band, and hopefully a future in a new purpose built Band room.

Once again to all the Members of the Band, and to all our supporters, “a very well done, and thank you”.
